VAMOS

The VAMOS Youth Mentorship Program was created to support young community members as they navigate social, emotional, and personal transitions. The program focuses on six key areas: Mental Health, Physical Health, Education, Career Development, Civic Engagement, and Life & Social Skills. Through personalized guidance and peer support, the program aims to empower young individuals to realize their full potential as they progress from middle school to high school and, ultimately, to college or early adulthood.

Benjamin Helping Hands

Our Helping Hands program is our dedicated food pantry initiative, created to support families facing food insecurity in McDowell County. With a population of 40,000 residents, 16 percent of whom live below the poverty line, the need for assistance is significant. Helping Hands offers food distribution, access to clothing, and essential hygiene and cleaning products to those in need.

Additionally, we partner with local food banks and farmers to produce fresh, high-quality products. This collaboration not only ensures our community has access to nutritious food but also supports our local economy, creating a sustainable and impactful cycle of care.

Vida Activa

Vida Activa was started in Summer of 2021 to create opportunities for our community to be active, healthy, social, and recover from isolation caused by the pandemic. This program focuses on mental health and educating community members on self-help tools, empowering them to prioritize their well-being. Along with that, Vida Activa also helps educate participants on healthy, nutritious eating habits, fostering a holistic approach to health.
This program has become a youth- and family-oriented initiative, merging with the VAMOS youth program to expand its reach and impact. We spend the summer engaging in a wide range of activities designed to bring people together and encourage an active lifestyle. These include hiking, outdoor adventures like tubing, sports, and other family-friendly events.
We hope to see you this summer and invite you to join us on this journey of wellness and connection. Follow us on social media to stay updated on the latest news and activities from Vida Activa!
