About Us

​Vida Activa was started in Summer of 2021 to create opportunities for our community to be active, healthy, social, and recover from isolation caused by the pandemic. This program focuses on mental health and educating community members on self-help tools, empowering them to prioritize their well-being. Along with that, Vida Activa also helps educate participants on healthy, nutritious eating habits, fostering a holistic approach to health.
This program has become a youth- and family-oriented initiative, merging with the VAMOS youth program to expand its reach and impact. We spend the summer engaging in a wide range of activities designed to bring people together and encourage an active lifestyle. These include hiking, outdoor adventures like tubing, sports, and other family-friendly events.

About the Role

The Vida Activa Intern will assist and oversee the coordination of our summer program, Vida Activa. This role involves collaborating with program staff to ensure successful planification, data-collection, and rollout of summer activities during their internship at Centro Unido Latino Americano. The Vida Activa program aims to create opportunities for youth and families to spend time outdoors, promoting physical activity and community involvement. Projects include and not limited to creating a calendar of events, data reporting, marketing and communication of activities, and community outreach.

Requirements:

• Ability to commute to Marion, NC

• Currently enrolled in a degree program in Communication, Social Sciences, Marketing, or a related field.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google sheets.

• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and build strong community partnerships.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

• Work Environment: This position may require occasional evening or weekend hours for events and program activities.
